How the grinder type differs
It cuts solids rather than passing them
A non-clog sewage pump lets solids go through a wide passage. A grinder cuts them into a slurry first, so the discharge can be a small-bore pressure line. The general comparison is in the sewage pump guide, and the in-sump form is covered on the submersible sewage pump page.
Where the duty appears
Typical uses are pressure or low-pressure sewer systems where each property has its own pump station, basements and upflush installations, small lift stations, and sites that cannot take a large gravity line.
Cutter, curve and solids limits
Cutter mechanism
A rotating cutter works against a stationary cutter ring or plate at the pump inlet. Hardened stainless parts are common. The cutter wears, so ask about replacement and edge life for your duty.
High head at low flow
The curve is typically steep: high head, modest flow. Flow falls quickly as head rises, so size from the real static lift and pipe friction, and do not pick on flow alone.
What it cannot grind
Hard debris such as stones, metal, textiles, plastics and many sanitary items can jam or damage the cutter. A grinder is not a way to dispose of waste that should not enter the system.
Line velocity
In a small-bore line the slurry must keep moving, or solids settle. Confirm discharge pipe size, length and velocity with the system designer.
Basin, check valve, controls and alarm
Basin and inlet
The pump sits in a sealed basin with an inlet, a vent and a cable entry. The basin must resist buoyancy and ground water, and its volume sets how often the pump cycles.
Check valve and shut-off
A check valve keeps the pressurized line from draining back into the basin, and a shut-off valve lets you service the pump. A stuck check valve is a common cause of short cycling.
Level control and alarm
Floats or a pressure sensor start and stop the pump. A high-level alarm warns of a failed pump or blocked line. Say whether you need a single pump or a duplex set that alternates.
Power and cable
Voltage, phase and frequency, motor protection and cable length to the control panel. The panel is usually a separate item in the quote.
Materials and alternatives
Materials
Cast iron housings with stainless steel cutters are common. Sewer gas is corrosive, so seals and elastomers must suit the fluid. Confirm materials against what the pump will actually see.
Non-clog instead of grinder
If the discharge line is large and the solids are moderate, a non-clog impeller on a sewage pump may be simpler and does not need a cutter.
Thick sludge
For thick or viscous sludge, a progressive cavity pump is a general alternative. It is not a substitute for a grinder on fibrous raw sewage.
Septic and clear liquid

What the catalog covers
The catalog does not list a dedicated grinder, and none of its current SKUs is described with a cutter. The nearest solids-handling pumps are the self-priming and submersible drainage pumps on the transfer line, which are not grinders. Grinder duty is quoted to your duty sheet.

Do you sell grinders to consumers?

Do you list a grinder pump in the catalog?
No. The current SKUs are on the transfer line and none has a cutter. Grinder duty is quoted from a duty sheet.
Grinder or non-clog sewage pump?
A grinder suits small-bore pressure piping and high head. A non-clog pump suits larger lines and moderate solids. The sewage pump guide compares the impeller types.
Why is the head so high but the flow low?
Pressure sewer duty needs a steep curve to push slurry up and along a long small-bore main. Check the real operating point, because flow drops fast as head rises.
What does the check valve do?
It stops the pressurized line from flowing back into the basin when the pump stops. If it sticks or leaks, the pump short cycles or runs more than expected.
